Kernan Oberting Returns to White Mountains in Deal for Oakum Bay Capital Minority Stake

In a deal that includes the return of a former White Mountains Insurance Group’s mergers and acquisitions executive, the company’s investment management arm, White Mountains Advisors has acquired a 7.5 percent interest in Oakum Bay Capital. According to Pension & Investments, Oakum Bay’s founder, Kernan Oberting, who spent nine years with White Mountains Insurance Group, will return as a senior partner to oversee the insurer’s minority interest in his former firm. Kernan Oberting will continue to serve as Oakum Bay Capital’s chairman.
