Hedge Fund Job Report: Southpaw, Shumway Capital, BlueCrest Capital, Highland Capital, GAM, & Loomis Sayles

|In this week’s hedge fund hiring report, we look at recent moves made by hedge fund managers Southpaw Asset Management, Shumway Capital Partners, BlueCrest Capital Management, Highland Capital Management and GAM, as well as traditional asset management firm Loomis Sayles & Co. All the asset managers in this week’s hedge fund job report added members to their investment teams, except for Highland Capital, which made significant promotions. |
Howard Golden and Kevin Wyman’s Southpaw Asset Management has hired Sungno Yun. Mr. Yun joins the distressed and special situation hedge fund specialist as a senior research analyst. Before joining South Paw, Mr. Yun was an Analyst at distressed debt focused Frontier Ridge Capital. His distressed debt investing experience also includes analyst stints at GoldenTree Asset Management and Seneca Capital.
Chris Shumway’s Shumway Capital Partners, which was one of only a few hedge fund management firms to have more than one hedge fund make Barron’s 2009 Top 100 Hedge Fund list, has added a couple of individuals to its investment team. Most recently, the firm hired Dan Mirabella as a trader. Prior to joining Shumway, Mirabella was a global rates and money market products trader at Guggenheim Partners. In December of 2009, Shumway Capital also added Sanket Patel as an analyst. Patel previously held analyst positions at David Einhorn’s Greenlight Capital, Richard Perry’s Perry Capital as well as Goldman Sachs.
