In this week’s hedge fund job report, we look at recent hires made by the Baupost Group, Granahan Investment Management, Samlyn Capital, Trian Group, Paulson & Co and Azentus Capital. Most of the hires will join their firm’s US offices, except for the Paulson & Co and Azentus Capital hires, all of which will be based in Hong Kong.

Seth Klarman’s value-focused Baupost Group has reportedly hired portfolio manager George Rizk away from D.E. Shaw & Co. While at David E. Shaw’s multi-strategy shop, Mr. Rizk headed up the hedge fund manager’s real estate investment team. It is expected that Rizk will similarly lead Boston-based Baupost’s real estate investing efforts.

Another Massachusetts-based manager, Granahan Investment Management, has also brought aboard a new portfolio manager. Earlier this year, the $3 billion small-cap equity focused manager hired Michael Allocco as a Portfolio Manager. Granahan’s CEO Jane White commented on Allocco’s hiring: “Mike brings to Granahan seventeen years of experience in the small cap arena. His wide range of expertise across several industry sectors adds depth to our research team.” Prior to Granahan, Allocco was most recently the Chief Investment Officer of Dallas-based Brazos Capital Management, where he led the firm’s small and mid-cap growth equity teams. Before Brazos, he was a portfolio manager and technology analyst at HLM Management Company.
