David Tepper seeds Matthew Knauer’s Nokota Management

Matthew Knauer has teamed up with Mina Faltas to found Nokota Management LP. The new hedge fund is reportedly being seeded by David Tepper, a renowned hedge fund guru who runs Appaloosa Management. According Business Insider, the size of Tepper’s seed commitment has not been revealed, but it’s anticipated that Nokota Management will start trading next quarter with nearly $250 million in assets under management.

Before founding Nokota Management, Matthew Knauer was most recently a senior analyst at Appaloosa Management. While at Appaloosa for over 6 years, Knauer covered the technology, media and telecom sectors.

Before Nokota Management Mina Faltas was an analyst at Andreas Halvorsen’s Viking Global Investors. While at Viking, Faltas invested in distressed debt and public equities. Before Viking, Faltas was a Vice President in JP Morgan's Proprietary investing group, where he focused on companies involved in distressed and special situations.
