Greenlight Capital LP was quick to boast of its 4.2 percent August gain to clients, especially against a backdrop of a underperformance as indicated the Bank of America Merrill Lynch hedge funds index which gained just 0.17 percent.

As reported by Reuters, Greenlight Captial LP fund manager, David Einhorn benefited from the robust gains of some of his top positions, such as Conventry Health Care (28 percent), Apple (9 percent), Seagate Technology (4 percent) and General Motors (6 percent). Greenlight Capital LP’s year-to-date gain of 10.9 percent still trails the S&P 500 index gain of 11.8 percent, but, given the performance of hedge funds over the last couple of years, David Einhort’s clients must be very pleased to receive this news.
