Calpers to Seed Hedge Funds

| The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that Calpers is considering increasing its internal hedge-fund initiative by seeding investment teams that could eventually be spun out from the pension fund. Concurrently, the pension has been pressuring external hedge funds that it invests in to lower their fees and provide more disclosures about their investment strategies. According to the article, Calpers has invested “$5.9 billion in direct investments with 26 hedge funds and nine…funds of funds.” | ||
