Already a dominant player in the hedge fund industry, Blackstone Group LP has set its sights on total supremacy with a strategy to buy large stakes in other hedge funds. As reported by Bloomberg News, Blackstone Group LP’s CEO, Tom Hill, has launched his new strategy with the purchase of significant stake in Senator Investment Group LP ($6.7 billion AUM).

With more than $56 billion in assets, Blackstone Group LP has the resources to make such investments which can boost the growth opportunities of the target hedge funds and create an additional revenue stream for its investors. A similar strategy employed by Goldman Sachs managed to triple assets under management with its investments in Winton Capital Management LLC and Capula Investment Management LLP.
